KARACHI – The All-Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) on Tuesday slammed the pastor of a Florida church, who oversaw the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran after finding the book “guilty of crimes.”
APMA president and minority member of the Sindh Assembly, Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, said that Pakistani minorities severely criticize Terry Jones for having overseen the desecration of the Holy Quran. “Christianity teaches respecting all religions and holy books, as well as those who follow other religions,” he said.
He said that Jones could not possibly be considered a bona fide pastor because he violated the tenets of Christianity. “We believe this act is a conspiracy to pit the followers of two religions against each other, and disrupt inter-faith harmony,” Khokar said.
Khokhar also expressed grief over the murder of Christian citizens in Hyderabad, and urged the government to ensure that their assassins are arrested at the earliest. “We request our Muslim brethren to protect their Christian friends and neighbours from harm,” he said.
