LAHORE – MQM chief Altaf Hussain has said that members of the army are part of the 98 percent oppressed population, and invited them to carry out joint efforts to bring a revolution to change the lives of the “have-nots”.
Altaf said this in a telephonic address to party leaders and workers from London during the inaugural ceremony of the party’s new office, to be called the MQM Punjab House, in Muslim Town. Altaf said the looted money lying in foreign bank accounts should be brought back, while the plunderers of national wealth should not be allowed to return to the country.
He said Dr Aafia Siddiqui was awarded a sentence of 85 years without committing any crime, while the people who were in the business of killing people were being set free. The MQM chief said Punjab was under the siege of “wicked and cunning” people, who he alleged were in the habit of selling the nation’s honour and integrity.
Altaf said the MQM’s democracy was not based on the principles of those politicians who had gotten their loans written off. Claiming that MQM’s ideology was similar to that of Quaid-e-Azam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said the ideology of his party had reached Punjab and would result in a greater awakening in the province.
The MQM chief asked the people of Punjab to initiate practical steps for ending injustices against them. Altaf added that feudal lords were the main hindrance in the way towards development. He said that the MQM would soon be the sole political force in the country and warned the rulers to stop gagging the media.
