Buyers showing more interest in Pakistani textile products after GSP Plus

Pakistani garments exporters have said following the European Union’s decision to  grant Pakistan Generalized System of  Preferences(GSP)Plus, the buyers are showing more interest in  its textile products currently being showcased at Paris exhibition Texworld.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Paris Ghalib Iqbal visited stalls of Pakistani textile exporters and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity by introducing maximum variety of quality garments.

Paris Trade Fair commonly known as Texworld is divided into fabric and garment sections. Around 631 exhibiters from some 25 countries from around the world participated in fabric section and 115 exhibiters from 10 countries are participating in garments section, said a message received from Paris here Wednesday.

The CEO of Paris exhibition Michal Scherpe in his remarks at a lunch, he hosted, appreciated the quality of the Pakistani garments. He hoped that GSP Plus status for Pakistan will attract more buyers. The ambassador told him that the embassy was planning to hold a fashion show of Pakistani garments in September during the next editions of the exhibition.

Texworld is held twice a year in September and February and this is 4th edition being held at Park–d exposition du Bourgy. Of the total 14 Pakistani companies participating in the exhibition, many were selected by Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan while some were participating on their own.

Earlier, during his visit to Pakistani stalls, the ambassador Ghalib Iqbal discussed with the producers the strategy to market their products. He assured them of all co-operations on behalf the mission.

  1. There should be a great marketing strategy for this business to be more successful. I do believe that this will add a big contribution in the economy of Pakistan.
