LAHORE – Punjab University Sports department has asked the Pakistan Rugby Union to help the university build its rugby team and prepare it for major national competitions. PU Additional Director Sports Farhat Hussain Saddiqi and Sports Officer Zubair Butt met PRU President Fawzi Khawaja and asked for his help in launching rugby in the university.
Farhat came with some of the PU athletes to the DHA ground, where the coaches and players were given an introduction to the game and were able to watch the ongoing Pakistan team camp and games. PRU President assured them of full support in developing the university’s rugby team.
University of Punjab will be taking part in the upcoming inter-varsity rugby championship, which is hosted by HEC under the technical supervision of Pakistan Rugby Union. This year’s inter-varsity rugby championship will be the second inter-varsity rugby event, with over 12 universities taking part.
