Pakistan on Saturday for a second time set a record of forming the largest human flag with 29,040 students at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.

Pakistan had first set the record in October 2012 when 24,200 people came together to break the record held by Hong Kong.

Last year, Bangladesh broke Pakistan’s record after over 27,000 people came together to form the Bangladeshi flag.

The record attempts are part of the Punjab Youth Festival.

Punjab Sports Board Director General Usman Anwar said, “Volunteers have been assigned duties for the world record events.”

Provincial Minister for Education and Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said on Friday that the festival aimed to break a number of records.

“The youth will try to set as many as 100 world records,” he said.

The minister said 150,000 people would also attempt the record for the national anthem on February 19.

The record was previously held by Bangladesh when 27,170 people formed the national flag in Dhaka.

Pakistani students formed the national flag and reclaimed the record for Pakistan. The record was validated by a representative of the Guinness book of world records.
