Building Energy Code, launched by Pakistan Energy Council will help to reduce the electric load in the buildings and save power for the national grid.
Talking to media after launch of “Building Energy Code of Pakistan” Wednesday, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid said the code would play a significant role in alleviating the energy crisis prevailing in the country.
In view of persistent energy shortfall, it has become imperative to design better systems that minimise energy consumption and improve efficiency, he said, adding the Pakistan Building Code would ensure energy efficiency benchmarks for buildings.
The federal minister said every effort has been made to ensure that these provisions do not unnecessarily increase cost, or restrict use of new materials and technology. He said, “Our nation is facing serious crises of energy shortage. There are multi-directional and multi-sectoral issues connected with this situation apart from social concerns.”
The continuous increase in the energy demand due to growing population, urbanization and technological advancements asserts for timely actions to plan, develop and manage the resources for futuristic requirements, he concluded.
