In a meeting on Monday between Interior Secretary Shahid Khan and Afghanistan’s Deputy Interior Minister General Ayoub Salangi in Kabul it was decided that Pakistan and Afghanistan will work jointly on better border management.
The officials also discussed issues pertaining to visa regime, transfer of prisoners.
Both the sides agreed to work together for the enhancement of visa regulations for facilitation of the ‘genuine travellers’.
Afghan Interior Minister Mohammad Umer Daudzai assured the interior secretary that his ministry will work closely with its counterpart on the proposal discussed in the meeting.
Last week, Kabul’s new Ambassador to Islamabad Janan Mosazai said that Afghanistan was planning to open a consulate in Lahore as part of its efforts to further strengthen ties with Pakistan.
The new Afghan envoy said the opening of a consulate in Lahore would further promote trade and culture ties between the two countries. Afghanistan currently has consulates in three Pakistani cities, namely Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.
