Police arrest 1,420 POs, COs during last month

Police have arrested 770 proclaimed offenders and 653 court absconders during a crackdown in the last month.

According to a spokesman, police have registered 421 cases against 421 accused for having illicit weapons and recovered two Kalashinkoves, 14 rifles, 22 guns, 353 pistols, nine daggers, one-carbine and 2,236 rounds from their possession.

During the crackdown against drug pushers, 707 cases were registered and 733 culprits were arrested with 22 kg heroine, 111 kg hashish, three kg opium and 5,839 bottles of liquor.

Meanwhile, 127 cases were registered against 548 gamblers and also recovered stake money more than Rs 100,000.

Police arrested 158 accused of 54 gangs and recovered Rs 3.9 million in cash from them while 144 cases have also been traced against them. The police have registered 371 cases against 403 culprits on the violation of law during the same period, the spokesman added.

On the directions of DIG Operations Rana Abdul Jabbar the police is utilising its all possible resources to curb crimes in the city.
