Three ‘killers of thirty’ arrested

KARACHI – The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police on Monday claimed to have arrested three alleged target killers involved in murdering more than 30 persons including political activists. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Saud Mirza, while addressing a press conference at his office, said that a police party led by CID SSP Fayaz Khan arrested the three alleged killers associated with the Mudassir Langra alias Chief group in an encounter, while three others managed to escape.
The police also claimed to have recovered two Kalashnikovs, two hand grenades, two rifles and hundreds of bullets from the possession of the alleged accused.
The suspects have been identified as Rao Mohammad Arastoo alias Grenade, son of Haider, Muhammad Nadeem Khan alias Rickshaw, son of Abdul Aziz Khan, and Babar, son of Sabir Ali, and admitted to involvement in more than 30 targeted killings, robberies, kidnappings for ransom, police encounters, drug peddling, bomb blasts and rapes. To a question, the CCPO maintained that the police would continue taking action against the criminals but refused to share details of the ongoing investigation into the killing of journalist Wali Babar.
Sharing the details of the cases registered against the alleged accused, the CCPO said the suspects were booked in 30 FIRs within the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sachal and Shahrah-e-Faisal police stations. The city police chief claimed that Arastoo and his accomplices killed Naresh on March 15; Syed Akram on March 14; Abdul Karim and Humayun on March 13; Munawwar Iqbal on March 8; Umair on March 3; Muzaffar Ahmad on February 26; Mohammad Akram on February 11; Khayal Nazar on January 12; and Saqd Ali on January 1; Ayaz Khan in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on October 19, 2010; Mohammad Nawaz and Rasheed Ahmad on August 5, 2010; Rasool Bux and Naqeeb Ali Bangash on August 2, 2010; Asadullah in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on July 24, 2010; Amjad and Fayaz Ibrahim in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on July 21, 2010; Mohammad Taj and Saeedullah on July 3, 2010; Qarar Ali and Shariq Qureshi, and Imtiaz Khan and Abdul Wahab in separate incidents on June 21, 2010; and Muslim Khan in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
Moreover, the suspects were also involved in killing of three unidentified men in Sachal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar police limits.
