LAHORE – The Pakistan Tennis Federation plans to hold a number of activities during the coming months for the uplift of the game and will also be awarding central contracts to the top five male and female players of the country in December. Addressing a press conference here Monday, Irshad Bhatti, senior vice president PTF said that the federation has asked all its nominated members to start contributing to the sport, and have been given a three month deadline.
He informed that there were three elected members in the PTF, while the rest of the body comprised nominated officials. He further informed that UAE has given Pakistan wild card entry into the Dubai Open and would also be sponsoring Pakistan tennis for two years. “Pakistan will start training for July’s Davis Cup tie against Korea from June 1,” he added. Pakistan’s top tennis player Aisam ul Haq, his doubles partner India’s Rohan Bopanna and mixed doubles partner Russia’s Kveta Peschke and Sania Mirza will play a charity match in Dubai for Pakistan’s flood victims.
