8,000 policemen to perform duty on March 23

LAHORE – More than 8,000 policemen will perform duty on March 23, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen said on Monday. He was presiding a meeting of senior police officers to review security arrangements for Pakistan Day on March 23. Tareen ordered officials to ensure checking of all hotels, inns and bus and wagon stands to avoid any untoward incident on March 23.
He directed officers to make arrangements to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
Tareen said that the Lahore Police will remain on high alert to maintain a peaceful atmosphere. The CCPO also directed officers to check all entry and exit points of the city. He said that crisis management centres have been established, which would function round the clock, while a special control room has also been set up at the CCPO office for coordination between various agencies.
Tareen directed divisional superintendents of police (SP) to personally check deployment and patrolling of mobile squads in their respective areas. The CCPO said that he would himself make surprise visits to review the security arrangements.
