The residents of Kot Mustaqim Rawalpindi are forced to drink contaminated water due to lack of filtration plant in the area.

This is thickly populated locality of Rawalpindi Cantt but it stands neglected in terms of basic civic amenities particularly filtration plant.

The residents have to fetch clean drinking water from far off areas on the motor cycles, private vehicles and wagons. The inmates who cannot afford taxi fare are forced to drink polluted water.

“We have to move to the nearby areas to bring drinking water early in the morning daily and this way a lot of time is wasted on the occasion when we have to prepare breakfast for our husbands and school going children,” said a group of housewives.

Every third home in this area is victim of waterborne diseases due to use of filthy water and the people have to resort to private doctors for their treatment against inflated fees.

The residents have demanded for installation of filtration plant soon to pre-empt eruption of any epidemic due to non availability of clean drinking water.
