LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam has accused the Punjab government of trying to influence the investigation against Moonis Elahi.
In a press conference at Muslim League House on Sunday PML-Q leader Kamil Ali Agha Kamil Ali Agha said the cases were registered against Moonis when he was away from Pakistan. He said that Moonis had returned to face the cases which showed that he had nothing to do hide.
Kamil alleged that FIA Additional Director Zafar Ahmad Qureshi was showing bias against Moonis. Kamil said Qureshi was one who said that Moonis’s farmhouses and foreign bank accounts have been seized although nothing like that had happened.
He said that Qureshi had said that his life was under threat and that if anything happened to him the Chaudhry brothers and Moonis would be held responsible, so he should not be allowed to instigate the case, he added. Kamil said Moonis had been dragged into three other cases without any reason.
He said Rana Sanaullah had been saying that that Moonis had absconded but he not only returned but also turned himself in to the police. Kamil said that Mohsin Warraich has presented an affidavit in court, saying that Moonis has nothing to do with the case, but the government was dragging him for nothing.
