Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada Wednesday said tourism in the country has declined significantly due to terrorism and bad law and order situation. Answering the question of Naeema Kishwar Khan, he said local police have also contributed in decline of tourism as they demand “Nikah Namas” from the tourists. Without exterminating terrorism, tourism cannot be developed in the country.

After the enactment of 18th amendment tourism alongwith subsidiaries have been placed under the ministry of inter-provincial coordination. Lahore High Court (Rawalpindi Bench) and National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) have halted the process of handing over the management of facilities along with employees to the provincial governments.
He said the Govt needs Rs 930 million for clearing liabilities of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) employees. After the payment of liabilities of the employees the Ministry of IPC would request the court/ NIRC to vacate the restraint orders.
The board of PTDC was being reconstituted. The employees of PTDC have filed a case in NIRC for getting their salaries.
