Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that his government has put Pakistan on the road to progress through their objective policies. If we are able to improve law and order situation, Pakistan will start galloping on the road of development, the PM believed.
He said this while addressing the MNA’s of Faisalabad division who called on him at PM house on Tuesday.
The prime minister said during his previous tenures vital state matters were neglected and had they taken decision in the national interest, the state of affairs would have been different today. He told that it is a good sign that despite the law and order situation the economic indicators, of the present government, are positive and it is being recognised by the world community as well.
Nawaz Sharif said that the Youth Business Loan Scheme will provide further impetus to the economy as thousands of youth will benefit from the scheme. The enthusiasm shown by youth for this scheme is a positive sign as when they perform, overall economy of the country will benefit. We need to guide the youth so that they can use the loan efficiently and effectively, PM added. The PM said that most of the applicants to the youth scheme have requested loans in the agriculture sector, which is a sign of the booming agriculture industry in Pakistan.
He said that GSP plus status to Pakistan is a special incentive to the textile industry of Faisalabad and they can benefit from it. But in order to benefit from the GSP plus status power shortage needs to be resolved PM added. He said that steps have been taken to resolve the matter.
While discussing the matter of upgrading Faisalabad Airport, the PM said that the private sector should be involved in the construction of a new airport through a public-private partnership. He directed to initiate that project on PPP basis. The government is ready to enter such agreement with the local investors, the PM added.
Addressing the demand of construction of technical education institutions, the PM said that Pakistan is gifted with manpower and we need to utilise them through providing them technical skills in order to enhance their capabilities. The members also discussed the scarcity of medical facilities in their areas.
Nawaz Sharif gave the assurity to look into the matter and added that government policy is to provide medical facilities in all parts of the country, not a selected area. Addressing the matter of completion of development schemes, he said “We have made an oversight committee which is prioritising the development projects. The schemes which are beneficial to the community at large will be completed”.
He said he is aware of the problems of mass transit in Faisalabad and said that a Metro Bus system has already been planned for the city.
