Information Minister Pervez Rashid has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will review Taliban’s fresh offer for talks during a meeting today.
He said that the PML-N parliamentary party would consider whether the Taliban’s talks offer was a political move or they really want to spend their lives as per the Constitution of Pakistan.
The minister said that the Taliban had launched several attacks on armed forces, schools and citizens. “Taliban will have to explain as to why they launched such attacks,” he added.
Sources said that the meeting headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would take place around 11:00 am.
The sources said that party leaders and parliamentarians will be taken into confidence over the challenges facing the country, especially terrorism, and the National Security Policy.
The sources said that the government was likely to take the National Assembly on board over talks with the Taliban.
