Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Chaudhry Rasheed Ahmed has decided to move a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the pressure being put on him to quit.
Sources close to him said that he has decided not to tender resignation as chairman PEMRA.
After consultations with legal experts, the chairman has prepared a petition to be moved in IHC on Monday (today).
Rasheed was appointed on the said post during Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government and his appointment was later declared illegal by the PML-N government, saying that procedures required had not been fulfilled.
Pressure is built on him to resign, saying that a majority of the PEMRA employees were not satisfied with his attitude and conduct.
Earlier, a three-member facts finding committee, led by the information secretary, had presented a report after investigation before board of the authority and recommended NAB to take action against Rasheed for his alleged involvement in corruption.
