Leader of the opposition in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan on Sunday asked the government to clarify its position regarding policies and strategies to curb terrorism and call a joint session of parliament in this regard.
Talking to reporters, the PPP senator said the government was in catch-22 situation, neither it could proceed over dialogues with the Taliban nor it can decide to launch a military operation against terrorists.
He demanded that the government call a joint session of parliament to hold debate over the issue, get the viewpoint of allied and opposition parties and then chalk out a plan how to tackle the problem of terrorism.
The opposition leader said that each and every Pakistani citizen was facing problems due to prevailing situation and wants to get rid of the ongoing circumstances but it is the responsibility of the government to resolve the issues.
Commenting over the ailing former president Pervez Musharraf, the PPP leader said that if Musharraf succeeded in going abroad for his treatment, he would never return. He alleged that Musharraf was coward and was looking for a safe passage.
