DUBAI-

The President of United Arab Emirates underwent a heart surgery after suffering from a stroke, the state news agency reported on Sunday.
A statement from presidential affairs ministry said the president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, suffered a heart stroke on Friday morning and was immediately taken for a surgical operation.

His health is now stable, added the statement.

Sheikh Khalifa has assumed a lower profile in state affairs due to his poor health while the affairs are handled by his half brother, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi.
