Federal Minister for Information Pervez Rashid has said that no accused can be allowed to go abroad for medical treatment.
Talking to reporters on Friday after submission of Pervez Musharraf’s medical report before Special Court, Rashid said he was surprised why Musharraf was reluctant to get treatment from that hospital which he had eagerly chosen himself.
“The government will not allow any accused to enjoy decision-making power in order to visit abroad for treatment. If this is allowed this time, no accused will stay in the country’s prison and will fly away taking decisions himself,” Pervez Rashid mentioned.
The information minister observed that the AFIC was Musharraf’s first choice when he faced a life-risking situation even when it was at a 45-minute’s drive but now he is expressing no confidence in the same hospital, he added.
“Thousands of angiographies have taken place in the AFIC with no complaints or complications,” Rashid added.
General (R) Pervez Musharraf has been under treatment in AFIC for over three weeks. He was shifted to the military hospital on January 2 after he sustained a cardiac problem on his way to special court to stand trial in high-treason case for imposing emergency on November 3, 2007.
