The claims of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam-Samiulhaq (JUI-S) Chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq regarding his role as a mediator for peace talks with Taliban were deferred on Thursday by a spokesperson of the prime minister house.
According to a statement by the PM house spokesperson, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not assign Haq any mission to act as a mediator between the government and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The statement added that Haq’s influence over the insurgents and his potential role in the talks had come under discussion at a meeting with the PM but he did not report any development on the proposal after the meeting.
