A special meeting of the federal cabinet began on Monday to deliberate upon National Security Policy as the country struggles to deal with the rising incidents of terrorism.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting in which the members exchanged views and approved the much-talked about security policy.

In the meeting, the draft of National Security Policy was presented for approval.

According to government official, there was a single-point agenda in the meeting. The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan apprised the cabinet members about the efforts for initiating peace talks with the Taliban, the official said.

The minister also briefed the cabinet over the on-going targeted operation against the criminals in Karachi.
