Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday condemned the massive blast and the targeting of a convoy of security forces in the cantonment area in the Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The attack resulted in the death of 20 security personnel and four civilians.
The MQM leader said that with the acceptance of responsibility of the blast by the TTP, it had become imperative for the government to rethink the strategy for dealing with terrorism.
He said he had been crying hoarse and demanding the federal government and the heads of the armed forces to devise a concrete strategy as indecisiveness would result in civilian casualties besides losses to the armed forces.
He said that a decision about holding the negotiations with the Taliban or following any other line of action should be taken without further delay and the nation should be informed about the decision.
The MQM chief said if the killing of security personnel continued in the same manner, it could create a feeling of despondency in the forces.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the grieving family members of the deceased and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
He appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and heads of the armed forces to plan a definite strategy for dealing with terrorism.
