Senate pays glorious tributes to SSP Aslam‚ Aitzaz Hassan

The Senate passed a unanimous resolution paying glorious tributes to the courage and services of CID SSP Mohammad Aslam Shaheed.

The resolution condemned the attack on Aslam and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

The house also lauded the courage of Aitzaz Hassan who sacrificed his life while intercepting a suicide bomber in order to save his school in Hangu.

The house offered fateha for the departed souls including Aitzaz Hassan‚ SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam‚ political workers and civilians martyred during the recent days in Karachi.

Earlier‚ opposition party Awami National Party (ANP) walked out from the house on deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi and killing of its party workers.

Meanwhile‚ the Senate was informed on Friday that no sub-standard commodities are being sold in Sunday bazaars in Federal Capital.

FOOD PRICES: Parliamentary Affairs State Minister Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House during question hour that the prices of the food items are fixed on the basis of rates received from wholesale fruit and vegetable market a day prior to holding bazaars.

TRADE MISSION ABROAD: To a question‚ Commerce and Textile Industry State Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan told the house that there is no proposal under consideration of the government to abolish the post of Pakistan based staff and to appoint local based staff in trade missions abroad.

He‚ however‚ said the government has decided to rationalise the strength of trade offices abroad to make them smart‚ efficient and cost effective.

He said at majority of offices post of Pakistan based staff were found redundant and being retrenched.

He said the estimated number of employees of the Commerce Division likely to be affected by this exercise will be around 10 officers between 18 to 20 grades and around 90 supporting officials.
