Sindh Additional IG Police Shahid Hayat said on Thursday that the police are carrying out targeted operation in Karachi without any political considerations.
Addressing a ceremony arranged by the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), Hayat claimed that the crime rate in Karachi has dropped considerably since the start of the operation.
He said that the number of murders in the city has reduced by around 40 percent, adding in December only seven kidnappings were reported in Karachi.
Hayat said that Karachi’s major problem is money extortion, adding effective measures, including issuance of verified sims, are being taken to tackle the problem of extortion.
He urged upon businessmen and builders to come forward and help the police to ensure law and order in the metropolis.
He further said, those questioning the credibility of police must know that the personnel did not lose their lives while sitting at home in fact they embraced martyrdom protecting people.
