Akram Sheik, prosecutor in treason trial against former president Pervez Musharraf, on Monday said Musharraf has taken asylum in the hospital to avoid appearance before the court.
Talking to reporters after hearing in the special court, Sheikh said Musharraf had been remained a part of brave army of Pakistan but his behaviour did not match with the bravery.
The prosecutor said that Musharraf did miss three hearings of his trial and now has taken refuge in the military hospital.
Sheikh said no body knows what disease Musharraf was suffering with, adding that there were no proofs of his heart problem presented before the court.
He said treason trial is against an individual and not against any institution adding that Pakistan army should maintain distance itself from the case and Musharraf should be isolated.
To a question, Sheikh said the former president has taken refuge in a military hospital but it did not mean that the Pakistan Army supported him.
When asked whether he has been receiving threats from secret agencies, the prosecutor said that he was not threatened in this case.
To a question about the Interior Ministry giving permission to Musharraf to travel abroad, he said he had no idea in this regard, but morally Musharraf should face all cases.
Separately, Musharraf’s counsel Ahmed Ahmed Raza Kasuri said that his client was still not well. Talking to reporters‚ Kasuri said that Musharraf was not shifted to a room so far from the CCU, adding that whole world knows about Musharraf’s sickness but the prosecutor was demanding proofs about his illness.
Kasuri said it was Nawaz Sharif who never missed a chance to defame the country’s army. He said Nawaz had complained about the Pakistan Army to then US president Bill Clinton.
Anyone can become sick especially when he/she is under some stress though ex Gen is a strong man but again there is a limit He is sick and will be ok He has sold his flat in UK that shows he is not going to leave Pakistan and more over not going to go to jail if Akram Sheikh is dreaming of that PML N leader will be unhappy when ex Gen is freed from all accusations God is with him because he is very honest He did not swindle any funds of the nation A property he had with hard earned money he has sold to show that he has no wealth hidden outside Pakistan. Ex Gen is not a GADDAR as mentioned by his rivals.
