LHC terminates AD&SJ, disciplines other judicial officers

LAHORE – The administration committee of the Lahore High Court (LHC) terminated the services of an additional district and session judge (AD&SJ), compulsorily retired two others and took disciplinary action against other judicial officers. It also reinstated ex-civil judge Shahwar Amin Wagha. According to a notification issued on Saturday, the committee conducted disciplinary proceedings against some judicial officers on different allegations including corruption, breach of code of conduct for judiciary and hold up in disposal of cases in their respective courts.
The services of AD&SJ Pasrur Muhammad Bhawaz Bhatti were terminated and two AD&SJs, Abdul Haseeb Sheikh (OSD) and Nazir Ahmad Langha (Rahim Yar Khan) faced compulsory retirement. The committee also removed Civil Judge Jatoi Syed Farrukh Hussain Shamsi from service. It imposed minor penalty of withholding of two annual increments for two years on another civil judge Muhammad Yousaf Hanjra.
It imposed minor penalty of censure on AD&SJ Ahmad Khan, Sialkot, and civil judge Syeda Sarwat Mumtaz, Kasur. The committee also issued final show-cause notice for imposition of major penalty to five judicial officers including two AD&SJs, Muhammad Shafiq (Burewala) and Riaz Ahmad Khan (Toba Tek Singh) along with three civil judges Muhammad Saleem Sheikh (Hasilpur), Mujahid Abbas Suhail (Rahim Yar Khan) and Faiz Ahmad Ranjha (OSD).
The LHC committee initiated de novo proceedings against District and Sessions Judge (D&SJ) Syed Kazim Shami (Gujranwala), AD&SJ Khadim Hussain (Jampur) and seven civil judges Sharafat Ali Nasir (Mianwali), Muhammad Tariq (Khanewal), Muhammad Aslam Dhariwal (Sillanwali), Waqar Mansoor (Bhowana), Faisal Jaim (OSD), Khalid Mahmood Warraich (Sialkot) and Muhammad Zia-ul-Tariq (Rawalpindi). The administrative committee also initiated disciplinary proceedings against one D&SJ, two AD&SJs, a senior civil judge and five civil judges.
