LAHORE – Dozens of government school students walked to support the recent anti-encroachment campaign on Saturday. The protectors raised banners, held placards and chanted slogans to denounce the encroachments that had caused difficulty for traffic and constricted public space. The rally started from Government High School Chistia Road, Islampura and ended at Government High School Mozang Road where the rally was addressed by Government High School Mozang Road Headmaster Syed Riaz Hussain, Government High School Chistia Road, Islampura, Headmaster Younas Cheema and other senior teachers including Dr Abdul Razzaq and Haji Akram Shahid.
The speakers said that it had become difficult to walk in the bazaars, roads and commercial areas because of encroachments. They also urged the students to play their due role in adopting and promoting better civic values and habits within their immediate social circles to help keep the city and its surroundings clean. The speakers hoped that the campaign would purge the city and of encroachments. Some students also spoke on the occasion and vowed to use their influence with their parents and families against encroachments.
