In reaction to the statement of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Memon in a ‘bouncer statement’ said that Altaf’s demand for dividing Sindh through creating a separate province for Mohajirs was an attempt to spoil the province’s peaceful atmosphere.
All ethnic communities had peacefully lived in Sindh and they have never hated anyone, such demands are only meant for political point-scoring, he said.
Memon was of the opinion that there was “something else” behind Altaf’s demands for a separate Mohajir province in Sindh and it was that he was venting of his anger on people of Sindh on behalf of Pervez Musharraf. The minister claimed that Altaf’s demand for a separate province for Mohajirs was in fact a manifest of his earnest longing for finding ways to enter the treasury benches in Sindh government.
Talking about discrimination against the Mohajirs, he said it was beyond rationale as Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, who hailed from the MQM, was holding the office of the governor for past 11 years.
Altaf’s demands are sheer pressure tactic to compel the Sindh government to accommodate the MQM in Sindh government. The MQM should lay its demands before its own governor.
He invited the MQM to engage in political dialogue in case they had any issue whether the issue of Sindh Local Government System, polls, delimitations or any other. The Sindh government is ready to sit with them and resolve the issues with diligence, he said. It is not reasonable to talk about ethnicity in public-gatherings and dividing the people of the basis of language, said Memon.
The minister was of the opinion that it seemed as if the MQM wanted to divert the attention from the ongoing targeted-operation. It is known to everyone that who is behind all the vandalism, he said. The Sindh government has launched developmental projects for Karachi and other urban parts of Sindh, iterated Memon.
The PPP minister said it is funny that the MQM does not see any problems in the province while they were or are sitting in the government.

  1. Good acting by Altaf Hussain to twist the topics!
It is a misconception that Urdu speaking vote only for MQM. There are a lot of Urdu speaking who vote for PML-N, PTI, Jamaat Islami or even PPP. No Urdu speaking wants new province. It is demand of only Altaf Hussain because he wants to destabilize the whole system.

  2. Majority of Urdu Speaking people hates Altaf Hussain the criminal mafia head, Altaf always confuse & divert common people with his new conspiracies. He is a hard core criminal hiding in U.K. Why did he ran away from Pakistan , is he a true leader ???

  3. None of the government is serious in resolving Karachi or Sindh ethnic issues. The Sindhi people, no matter what language they speak, are hijacked by MQM Mafia. I wonder knowing his role in destabilizing Pakistan and its major cities, this jocker is still influential in driving situations in such a big country? Our government, politically, is so week and failure in eliminating one evil from the face of earth, how would they going to defend this country and fight against mighty enemies????

  4. Altaf wants to create another sectarian crisis. MQMs genesis is from dictatorial milieu and it wants to create those conditions to thrive even though it has to forgo Pakistan.
