A strike is being observed on Thursday (today) in Balochistan capital in wake of Wednesday’s suicide attack on a bus of pilgrims in Quetta.
Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) gave a strike call in condemnation of the attack that targeted a bus of Shia devotees entering Akhtarabad area of Quetta from Iran.
In response to the strike call, Alamdar Road, Hazara Town, Kirani, Marriabad and other commercial centres remain closed while traffic on roads was low as the city mourned the attack.
Moreover, Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch will be heading a security committee meeting to discuss strategies for fool-proof security for pilgrims leaving and entering Pakistan.
A case against unknown persons was registered in a police station under the complaint of the Station House Officer (SHO).
The FIR was lodged under sections of the law pertaining to terrorism, murder, attempted murder and other charges.
In Wednesday’s attack, at least three people lost their lives and 31 were injured out of which six were reported to be in critical condition.
Shia pilgrims have been a prime target of the militants in Balochistan over the past six years.
