Rashid welcomes DGMOs meeting

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday welcomed Pakistan-India Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) meeting at Wagah.
Speaking to media during a ceremony held at the Presidency on the occasion of 137th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Rashid said, “Steps are taken to move forward.”
The information minister said relations between the states were based on mutual interests which were to be safeguarded. He said whoever rules in India it would not affect the bilateral ties. He said all the states of the region should live with peace, adding that all have to fight underdevelopment, poverty and illiteracy jointly.
Rashid said Muhammad Ali Jinnah wished for a change through vote and he succeeded in getting a separate homeland for the Muslims of India through ballot.
He said, “We got democracy in Pakistan after a long struggle against a dictatorial regime.” He said it is the right of every government to complete its tenure as enshrined in the constitution. He said governments come and go through the power of people, which was the essence of democracy.
He said, “Our destination is to establish peace on our borders, as well as in our country. Pakistan wanted peace with its all neighbouring countries as we have suffered a lot in past decades because of instability in the region.”
He stressed for a sustainable peace in the region and said Pakistan desires cordial ties with all its neighbors.
Extending his greetings to Christians in Pakistan, Rashid said today was the day of peace, which was an integral part of their belief. He said Christianity preached the philosophy of love with humanity.
