Candidates will start filing their nomination papers for local bodies (LB) elections in Sindh today (Thursday).
Nomination papers can be submitted till December 29 and on the first day of the process, over 3,000 candidates affiliated with different political parties are expected to file their nominations.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said the provincial government had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan for more time to hold the LB polls. He said that the issue of the Local Government Bill is still pending in court and the decision of the court in this regard will be acceptable.
LB elections are scheduled to take place in Sindh on January 18, whereas in Punjab the date for the elections is January 30. December 26 (Thursday) is the last day for candidates to submit their nomination papers in Punjab.
