Several parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued in the grip of foggy weather on Wednesday, hampering the routine life as less-visibility caused slowing down of vehicular movement besides closure of Allama Iqbal International Airport and Motorway at several places.
Routine life was disrupted as traffic, several trains and flights were delayed due to dense fog across Punjab.
The cities affected by the fog included Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Okara, Sahiwal and several other parts of the province.
Meanwhile, the flight operation at Multan Airport was restored after the fog thinned out and the visibility improved to 500 meters. However, the visibility on Motorway from Kasuwal to Multan led to its closure for most part of the day.
The life in Lahore remained almost paralysed as the city and its surrounding areas remained blanketed in dense fog and the visibility turned zero causing the closure of all sort of traffic including the Allama Iqbal Airport. Railway schedule was also badly affected.
The foggy weather also disturbed routine of people in Faisalabad and Gujranawala, as the fog started thickening with the visibility getting almost blurred causing closure of Motorway and all sorts of vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) said that visibility was low and people should avoid unnecessary travelling.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Riaz said that current foggy weather will continue for two more days.
The situation in Peshawar was no better, as Motorway had to be closed up to Swabi due to no visibility at all, while area from Peshawar up to Nowshera Rushkai was also hit by thick fog.
