The reluctant Sindh government has finally agreed to hold local bodies (LB) elections on January 18, 2014 following the directives of the Supreme Court.
Following a high-level meeting on Friday, Provincial Minister Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro told media that the government has informed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in writing about the decision to hold local government in January instead of March.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the government wanted to hold LB elections in March but it obeyed ECP’s orders.
The ECP is likely to issue the local bodies (LB) polls schedule on December 18.
