Chang Song-thaek, uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was executed for committing treachery on Thursday.
According to the North Korean news agency, Chang had admitted to attempt to overthrow the government at a military trial on Thursday and was immediately executed. He further had admitted of misuse of his position to create an anti state group for pursuing his personal political ambitions.
Chang was arrested from a Communist Party session by armed men earlier this week.
