Amended bill of a balanced rent control for Islamabad will soon be presented in the National Assembly for its enactment into a law.

This was said by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf National Assembly Member Asad Umar while talking to a delegation of representatives of Islamabad’s different markets that called on him led by Traders Welfare Association Organising Secretary Ajmal Baloch and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry at PTI Central Secretariat on Monday.

PTI Regional President Amir Mughal, Secretary Traders Khurram Bakhtiar, PTI President NA-48 Sardar Zahid Akbar, Incharge Media Cell Waqas Abbasi, Zia Chaudhry and Jalal Bijlani were also present.

Asad Umar said during last election campaign, PTI had promised for a balanced rent control act in Islamabad which should provide equal protection to landlords and tenants and now the time has come to fulfill that promise. We are planning to present the amended bill of rent control act in National Assembly in near future and if trade leaders have any good proposals, they should share with us, he said.

Speaking at the occasion, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry appreciated the good gesture of PTI for presenting bill of rent control act in NA, but added that traders had a bitter experience in this regard. He suggested that PTI should take on board other parties regarding this bill for ensuring its enactment. He said CDA affairs also needed to be looked into as the initiatives of CDA Municipal Administration director have created lot of concerns in traders as they are proving highly anti-business.

Traders Welfare Association Organising Secretary Ajmal Baloch said that a consensus bill of rent control act having the approval of all stakeholders was presented in the previous National Assembly, which is lying pending since then. He said we don’t want that opposition bill should be bulldosed in the National Assembly, therefore, he suggested that instead of presenting new bill, the pending bill should be taken forward by taking on board National Assembly members of PML-N, which could be passed more easily.
