Pakistan Medical Association Balochistan President Sultan Tareen on Sunday said kidnapped cardiologist Dr Munaf Tareen was freed by his abductors after getting Rs 500 million.
Addressing a press conference, Sultan Tareen said that their strike was not limited to the release of Dr Munaf Tareen, adding that they would continue to observe strike until their all demands were met.
Criticising the provincial government, he said that paying ransom to recover the kidnapped cardiologist is a “slap in the face” of Balochistan government.
Dr Shaukat said that general body of PMA would meet today (Monday) to chalk out future work plan. He demanded of the government to provide security to the doctors.
Earlier on Sunday, the police found kidnapped Dr Munaf Tareen after two and half months at a deserted place in Othal area of Lasbela district in Balochistan. Police said the kidnappers had dropped the doctor in injured condition.
Lasbela DPO Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said that the abductors took Dr Munaf to a long distance on foot due to which his feet were injured.
The rescued cardiologist was handed over to his heirs who took him Karachi for his treatment.
