Hundred percent funds released for 293 development schemes

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday said that 100 percent funds have been released for more than 293 different development schemes in Karachi.

The CM during a meeting to review pace of work of ongoing schemes under annual development schemes for current fiscal also took a brief insight of physical and financial progress of ADP schemes for 2013-2014.

He directed the Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui to personally supervise all 293 schemes underway with reference to their quality completion by December 31, 2013.

Qaim Ali Shah directed the Planning and Development (P and D) Additional Chief Secretary Arif Ahmad Khan to take action against the bottle-necks who are impeding the work progress.

The CM also took into account the fact that the finance department has recently released funds, under the second quarter, for all the ongoing schemes that constitute major portion of the development portfolio of the province. He said that these funds, particularly, include 293 development schemes for Karachi and that 100% funds for them have been released to the concerned quarters.

The CM asked P and D additional chief secretary to see the ongoing 293 projects and duly report the commissioner.

It was particularly directed that no compromise should be made on quality as well as on timely completion of these schemes.

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad in compliance of government directives held a meeting of projects implementation unit in his office on Thursday and asked all concerned officials to provide him with a completion report of the work undertaken by him by December 27.

KMC Administrator Saqib Soomro, on the occasion, was particularly directed to ensure completion of two-way fly-over at Ayesha Manzil, two-way fly-over at Daak-Khana, S M.Taufiq Road and expansion of TeenHattiBridge by December 31.

The meeting was also attended by Commissioner Office Implementation Unit In-charge Syed Mohammad Shakaib, Karachi Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) Managing Director (MD) Qutubuddin Shaikh, KWSB Project Director Asif Ali Khan, Local Bodies Department Mechanical and Engineering Director General Fahim Junejo, Project Director Imran Asif, Technical Services DG Niaz Ahmad Soomro, TMH DG Ashfaq Mallah and other senior officials of KMC.

Other projects included in the 293 schemes to be completed before 2014 are rehabilitation and improvement of internal streets in Lyari Town, renovation and up-gradation of existent playgrounds in Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Park / Kakri Ground Malir, revamp of boxing clubs scattered across Lyari, improvement and up-gradation of vertical-non clogging-pumps at various water pumps stations in the city, construction of up-graded tanks at Moosa Lane and so-forth.
