KARACHI – Faiqa Qayyum Uppal’s artwork includes beautiful cityscapes, breathtaking landscapes and lively figure compositions, painted in watercolour and gouache, using the palette knife technique. Her artistic vision expresses her deep fascination and love for nature and culture. Each of her watercolour paintings represents a place or an object of significance in her life.
She obtained her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts with silver medal, whereas her Masters degree in the same discipline with distinction and gold medal. After completing her education, she started working as a lecturer, as well as a designer-cum-visualiser in a software house. She prefers watercolour and poster colour techniques.
It all depends on her mood and subjects. She has painting and craft exhibitions to her credit, and has also participated in national and solo painting exhibitions. She never bounds herself to expressing her feelings and ideas on paper and canvas. She uses clay pots, bottles, fabric or wooden pieces, or even wax. Her sensitivity makes her feel things deep inside, which forces her to create all her paintings, compelling her to put her feelings, observations and thoughts on the canvas.
