The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not want war with the West by blocking NATO supplies, but it only wanted to record protest, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday.
The United States tried to sabotage the proposed peace talks between the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and government by killing Hakimullah Mehsud, he said.
Mehsud, along with his uncle and four others, was killed in a drone attack in the Darpa Danday Khel area of Miranshah town of North Waziristan on November 1.
“We are not the pro-Taliban, but we are only concerned about the country,” Imran Khan said while talking to reporters in Nowshera.
“There are people in this lobby who are being paid to oppose peace talks in the country,” he said, adding that one who calls for peace talks is labelled as pro-Taliban by the same lobby.
The US was trying to engage the Afghan Taliban in talks, Khan said, adding that the PTI-led KP government would block NATO supplies after November 20 to record protest against drone attacks.
The KP Assembly had adopted a unanimous resolution on November 3, asking the federal government to take steps to stop drone attacks and NATO supplies by November 20, or else KP would pursue its own course of action.
He said that thousands of people had taken to streets in the UK to protest against US aggression in Iraq. Imran said that those who were criticising him were receiving money from foreign countries. He also claimed that a “do more” US lobby was working in Pakistan.
He urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stay in Pakistan and deal with the internal challenges and spearhead the peace process.
“How much foreign investment came to Pakistan due to Nawaz Sharif’s visits?” Khan questioned.
To a question about certain Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa lawmakers involved in corruption, Imran said all ministers were being monitored and action would be taken against those involved in illegal practices.
Earlier on Friday, he directed KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to immediately kick off investigation into allegations of corruption against his cabinet members.
I appreciate imran’s action he is only one lover of pakistan
