Police claimed to have arrested at least 91 suspects during a search operation in Peshawar on Tuesday.

Peshawar has been a target of terrorism over the past two months as bombings in Qissa Khawani Bazar and a church left nearly 200 people dead.

Officials said that during their crackdown the police conducted a house-to-house search in the Bhana Mandi area and raided criminals’ dens in different parts of Peshawar. The police also conducted search missions in neighboring tribal agencies where the Pakistan army has been carrying out an operation against militants loyal to Taliban and al Qaida.

Police arrested 91 suspects, claiming that firearms, including Kalashnikovs, repeaters, G3 rifles, pistols and hundreds of bullets were recovered from them

  1. Given the deteriorating security situation in certain areas, it is easy to overlook the hard work and dedication of the Pakistani security forces. They are working night and day to counter the threat of terrorism. They continue to lay their lives down for the sake of restoring peace in the region. We commend their efforts and applaud their sacrifices. No two other nations could understand each other’s sacrifices more. We’ve lost thousands of brave soldiers on both sides of the border in fighting terrorism. Our common sacrifices prove our stance against terrorism. We stand by the government of Pakistan and look forward to continuing our partnership.
