JCP recommends seven additional judges for LHC

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Friday proposed seven names for the appointment of additional judges in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Names of two session judges Tahir Abbasi and Arshad Tabassum were proposed for the additional judges of LHC.
The other five names include advocates Saddaqat Ali Khan, Muhammad Ahmed Bhatti, Shahid Nadeem Kahloon, Chaudhry Masood Jehangir and Sohail Iqbal Bhatti.
The meeting was attended by four senior judges of the apex court, Justice (retd) Rehmat Hussain Jafri, attorney general of Pakistan, a representative of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), LHC chief justice, senior most judge of LHC and the provincial law minister for Punjab.
These names will be given a final approval by the parliamentary committee.
