PTI to protest against hike in power and POL prices

A meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was held with PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen in the chair in the party’s central office in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry, General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid, Secretary Information Andleeb Abbas and others.
Issues such as local bodies’ elections, candidates selection, political situation in the province and impacts of unprecedented hike in power tariff and petroleum prices were discussed.
The leadership, in the meeting passed a resolution unanimously and condemned federal government’s decision of raising prices of electricity and petroleum products. The leadership observed that PML-N government, violating its mandate and turning down their promises with the people of country has raised the prices of basic necessities that will undermine the poor. The price hike will have devastating effects on prices of all commodities and will shift burden to already crippled lower middle class and the poor of the country.
In the meeting it had been decided to carry out massive protest against unjustifiable price hike across the province as well as in the provincial assembly. It had also been decided that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would participate in upcoming local body elections and forward its best candidates at basic level.
A mechanism to short list candidates on the basis of merit and performance had also been developed in the meeting. To gain voter’s support across the province leaderships engagement plan of the leadership had also come under discussion and agreed upon that final plan scheme would be presented to the chairman shortly.
