Cinema audiences will now have to wait until 2014 to see Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman as Princess Grace of Monaco.
The film’s release date has been pushed back by The Weinstein Co., according to the Hollywood Reporter. Called Grace Of Monaco, it was due for release in November, making it eligible for next year’s Oscars. In the film, Kidman plays the Princess, formerly known as movie star Grace Kelly, during a crisis in her marriage to Prince Rainier III.
Director Olivier Dahan previously coaxed an Oscar-winning performance out of Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. The new film co-stars Tim Roth, Frank Langella and Derek Jacobi. It has already been screened at the Cannes Film Festival, where Kidman was serving on the festival jury.
But it has been met with some resistance by Prince Albert II of Monaco, who criticised the film for being historically inaccurate.
