Police have arrested as many as 18 suspects allegedly involved in bank robberies and targeted killings from different parts of the city.
The police said that a target killer was arrested in Pirabad area near Chati Hotel and a 9-mm TT pistol was also recovered from his possession.
They said that the suspect was involved in the killings of three Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers near Paposh and Shahra-e-Noor Jehan areas.
He was also involved in a bank robbery in Site Area in which Rs1.6 million were looted.
The police added that the accused had also been receiving extortion from two pharmaceutical companies. They said the accused had been receiving Rs 90,000 per month from each company.
Five accused involved in street crimes were held by Crime Branch of the Karachi Police in Sultanabad area.
Similarly, four suspects involved in drug dealing and murder were arrested in Baloch Colony while five others were rounded up in Baldia Town locality.
Superintendent (SP) Clifton Sarfaraz told that four suspects were arrested within the remits of Boat Basin Police Station after an encounter.
He said that a pistol, a dagger and drugs were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
