PM, president condemn Peshawar bombings

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday condemned the twin suicide attacks in a Peshawar church and expressed sorrow and shock over the loss of lives.
He said terrorists have no religion and targeting innocent people was against the teachings of Islam and all religions. Such cruel acts of terrorism reflected the brutality and inhumane mind set of the terrorists, he added.
The PM expressed solidarity with the Christians and sympathized with the bereaved family and prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the blast.
Separately, President Mamnoon Hussain condemned the bombing. He expressed deep sympathies for the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of injured.
Meanwhile, a civil society organisation condemned the church attack in Peshawar.
In a joint statement, the member organizations of the REAT Network extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured in the suicide bombing.
Separately, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Central Executive Committee (CEC) condemned the blast outside a Peshawar church.
In a condemnation message on Sunday, the PTI CEC said that protection of our minorities is a central duty of our state ad provincial and federal government.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shaukatullah Khan condemned the suicide attack and expressed shock over the loss of lives.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi condemned the suicide bombing.
In a condemnation message, he said the Pakistan Ulema Council condemned the bombing, adding, “We are with our Christian brothers and sisters in this time of grief and sorrow.”
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the bombing.
In a statement issued from the Bilawal House, Bilawal said that almost every segment of Pakistani society, which wants peace, is being targeted by terrorists. From schools to hospitals and bazaars to the places of worship are being targeted by the terrorists, he said.
Separately, Majlis-e-Wehdatul Muslimeen (MWM) chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari condemned the brutal attack by terrorists on a church near Peshawar’s Kohati gate that claimed 61 lives.
He pointed out that the terrorist-friendly policies of the PML-N government have emboldened the terrorists, who have accelerated their attempts against the innocent Pakistani people.
Meanwhile, Minhajul Quran and Awami Tehreek founder Dr Tahirul Qadri said the government had failed to provide security to the people.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmad Bilour reached the church to express his sympathy and solidarity with the Christians.
Separately, NA speaker and deputy speaker condemned the bombing.
In their separate statements, the speaker and deputy speaker termed the bombings blasts, barbaric and shameful acts of terrorism.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Senator Shujaat Hussain and former deputy prime minister Pervaiz Elahi expressed their heartfelt grief and sorrow over the church attack.
Both the leaders contacted the Bishop of Lahore Rev. Irfan Jamil on telephone and expressed their solidarity with the Christians.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael while condemning the suicide attack on Peshawar church said that such incidents would leave very negative impact on national stability and religious harmony.
In a statement issued to media, he said elements involved in such brutal incidents belonged to no religion and they were enemies of humanity and they could not tolerate the development of the country.
He said, “Our leadership has taken comprehensive steps in anti terrorism bill to counter the terrorism to take our country out from this curse.”
The minister sharing condolences with the family members and relatives of victims assured them all kind of cooperation from government.
