Balochistan Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) warned on Friday to spread the ongoing doctors’ strike in Quetta to all government hospitals of the province.
Doctors in the city went on strike on Thursday over the recent abduction of cardiologist Dr Munaf Tareen near Pishin Stop. The abduction took place a few days after the recovery of Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Ahmed.
Balochistan PMA Dr Sultan Tareen has alleged that the government is not taking action against the abductors even though they have been identified.
He said the association had informed the government that the kidnapped doctor was kept in Miranshah, adding that the association’s representatives were trying their best to get the doctor recovered but the administration was not doing anything in this regard.
“We will come on roads,” he warned.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has directed the authorities concerned to make arrangements for the early recovery of Dr Munaf and also sought a daily progress report in this regard.
