Pakistan has called for cessation of US drone strikes on its soil through urgent and intense dialogue.

Speaking during a UN Security Council debate on the situation in Afghanistan on Friday‚ Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Masood Khan said “drone strikes infringe our sovereignty‚ violate international law and cause civilian casualties”.

He said drone strikes were also detrimental to the combined efforts of fighting terrorism.

The Pakistani envoy noted that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during his recent visit to Pakistan had also pointed out the adverse consequences of the use of armed drones.

He said the all parties conference in Islamabad had also recommended raising the drone issue at the United Nations.

Khan said Pakistan was facilitating the Afghan reconciliation process‚ but progress was attainable only if all stakeholders shared the goals of the peace process.

He assured the government and the people of Afghanistan of Pakistan’s continued commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.

  1. It will be soon when Drones will be the thing of the past. US seems to be exhausted with the fight with Taleban and its the way out from their country. Drones are going to be stopped soon that is what I believe
