Lyari gang leader Zafar Baloch gunned down

People’s Amn Committee (PAC) leader Zafar Baloch was shot dead near Bazinjo Chowk in the port city late on Wednesday. Baloch was on his way home from Civil Hospital on a motorcycle with a bodyguard when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them, severely injuring him and his companions.
“Two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at Baloch’s motorcycle,” said a police official. The official spokesman of Uzair Baloch, chief of the notorious PAC, was shifted to a hospital where it was revealed that he was shot multiple times in the chest.
His bodyguard Muhammad Ali was also killed in the ambush.
A senior police official said that the attack left one person injured. He has been shifted to a hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, law and order situation in several Lyari areas was reported to be tense and businesses were closed down soon after the news of the two killings spread in the city.
14 target killers arrested from Murree: In a related development, intelligence and police personnel arrested 14 target killers involved in the Karachi bloodshed during a crackdown at hotels in Murree.
The raids were conducted after security officials received a secret report. During the raids, 14 target killers including a key accused of Lyari gang war, were arrested.
The detainees were identified as Shoaib, Idrees, Sajjad, Shahid Qadri, Khalid Mehmood, Danish, Muhammad Asim, Naeem, Imran, Maqsood, Aamir, Basharat and Muhammad Ahmed.
Three of the detainees are from Murree and were facilitating the others.
According to the police, the detainees were wanted by various police stations of Karachi in cases of extortion, robberies, targeted killings and other crimes.
The detained target killers were shifted to some undisclosed location for further interrogation. A key accused of the Lyari gang war, Ameen Baleedi, and his accomplices were arrested from Lahore two days ago. According to the police, the target killers and extortionists have started fleeing to others cities of Punjab after the Karachi operation against them was accelerated.
