The Sindh government has decided to conduct local government (LG) elections on November 27, Advocate General SM Khalid Javed has said.
The Supreme Court (SC) was informed of this decision during a hearing at the Quetta registry.
According to media reports, many politics parties have not been taken into confidence yet but they will soon be informed of the decision.
Earlier, the Sindh government had requested the SC to grant permission to conduct the LG elections in December due to the present unrest in Karachi, adding that the elections would require some legal amendments. However, the request was not accepted by the apex court’s larger bench at the SC Quetta registry.
